- The surname "Yatsurugi" (八剣) is a combination of the kanji characters "八" meaning "eight" and "剣" meaning "sword" or "blade".
- The given name "Hijiri" (聖) is the kanji character "聖" meaning "holy", "saint" or "sage".
Appearance[]
Hijiri is an elegant person wearing elegant clothes such as a tie, vest, and formal shoes.
He has long hair combed to the right side and wears glasses. He usually carries an umbrella and a suitcase.
Personality[]
Hijiri is an elitist person who, in his own words, desires to look down on others. He believes that those of lower class should not be treaded equally. He is a sadist who enjoys they idea of bullying others, especially those who talk to him as if they are superior.

- Jinta Domeki: Jinta is Hijiri's partner, their exact relationship is unknown but they both work together under Kaito's orders.
- Juzo Ogami: Starting out as enemies, Hijiri holds Ogami in contempt due to their different ways of thinking and sees him as someone to be defeated. After his defeat by Ogami and Shin, Hijiri would begin to get along better with Ogami.
